These are notes from church. Any misinformation is the fault of the note-taker.

  • All of us have some type of need. Where do we go? We go to Christ
  • Read the book of Mormon to read his words to us.
  • Christ will deliver and help us by his tender mercies. He doesn’t for each individual.
  • After three days of turbulence in store, Christ came to visit the Americas. He told the multitude “Bring your, Maimed, lepers, withered or death or anything else coming to me
  • How did Christ endure the atonement and crucifix without becoming better? (MG: his motivation)
  • Read the book of Mormon so we can hold to the iron rod. It will help us walk through the mists of darkness in the waves of play. The word of God is the book of Mormon.

Creative Benefits to Offer Your Employees for Improved Workplace Morale

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

We have another great article from Daisy Jones. She has so many great ideas.

Creative Benefits to Offer Your Employees for Improved Workplace Moral

Today’s employees are seeking so much more in a full-time job than health insurance coverage and other mandatory benefits like family and medical leave, workers’ compensation, and unemployment insurance. Rather, Forbes says today’s employees desire the ability to work flexible hours, call it quits early on Fridays, and ditch the five-day workweek for four longer days. Also topping the list of desired employee benefits includes paid mental health days, paid miscarriage leave, and employer-sponsored retirement plans.

Of course, there are numerous other benefits you can offer to attract and retain top talent, boost employee morale, and increase workplace productivity. Here are a few creative options, presented below from https://safestbaby.org/.

Physical and Mental Wellness Benefits

In the wake of COVID-19, many employees could benefit from corporate wellness programs that offer mental health support, onsite yoga classes, health and wellness coaching, and physical activities. Some corporate wellness packages include these types of benefits, as well as vaccination clinics, smoking cessation and weight loss programs, nutrition education, and health screenings.

In addition to improving the physical and mental health of your team, corporate wellness programs help to reduce absenteeism, increase workplace productivity, and improve employee morale. Some other creative wellness benefits you could offer your employees include:

  • Onsite saunas and massages.
  • Paid sabbaticals.
  • Help with household chores like laundry and cleaning.
  • Paid date nights with spouses.
  • Pet-friendly workplaces.
  • Volunteer time off (VTO).
  • Bike-sharing programs.

Education and Tuition Reimbursement

Like offering wellness benefits, reimbursing employees for college courses could help businesses to attract and retain quality workers, as well as keep them engaged. Additionally, this type of reimbursement can also help you qualify for tax breaks. Typically, employers offering this type of benefit reimburse workers for any relevant courses they take, or they pay colleges directly for the courses their workers enroll in.  Tuition reimbursement programs may or may not cover the cost of books, technology, and other education expenses.

For example, employers can cover the tuition expenses of their employees who enroll in a bachelor of science in education or a business degree. This can be a great way to ensure that workers are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their job roles effectively. With an online education degree, your employees would develop skills in ethical practice and learner development. Meanwhile, a business degree would equip your workers with the knowledge they need to lead and manage others. Plus, online degree programs are flexible and less likely to interfere with employee responsibilities at work and at home.

Remote Work Arrangements

After so much of the world adapted to working from home during the pandemic, a recent Gallup survey found that only six percent of employees had the desire to work entirely onsite. About 34 percent would prefer to permanently work from home, while 60 percent desire hybrid work arrangements. As such, offering your employees remote work arrangements could increase worker retention and engagement, prevent employee burnout, and boost worker performance.

That said, remote work doesn’t have to mean working from home. Take your employee benefits one step further by encouraging your employees to travel and work from anywhere in the world. Some remote-friendly companies (like Airbnb and Evernote) are going as far as paying for all or part of their employee’s annual vacations!

Attract and Retain Your Talent with Stellar Employee Benefits

If you’re looking to attract the best talent, retain employees for the long haul, and ensure your team delivers great results each day, it’s time to modernize your employee benefits. By offering physical and mental wellness programs, online college tuition assistance or reimbursement, and other perks like flexible work arrangements, your employees will be so much more likely to stick around for the long haul. These creative benefits motivate your workers to do their very best while also helping them to achieve a healthier work-life balance.

How to Outline a Romance Novel

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

The full title is, How to Outline a Romance Novel and Keep the Love Scenes Sweet with a Little Bit of Heat. This is a presentation offered at the 2023 LDSPMA writers’ conference. The presenter is Julie L. Spencer.  Any misinformation is the fault of the note-taker.

What makes a romance novel different from other fiction?

  • Love story: Romantic subplot is useful. If someone is trying to save the world and character, finds love. They may have to save the world or their love. It endears the reader to the character.
  • Romeo and Julie > isn’t a romance. It is a tragedy because they die in the end.

Multi-genera included paranormal of two book genres combined.

Erotica verses Erotic romance> erotic romance uses sex

Outlining and story structure:

  • If you take the romance out and still have a story, you don’t have a romance. You have a romance subplot. In a romance novel, the protagonist is “the romance.”
  • Choose a plot structure (hero’s journey, Save the cat, romancing the beat) and create a framework of events that need to happen in order to make the plot work.
  • In a romance, the romance is the plot. Intergradient of a romance: a central plot focused around a romantic relationship that follows the development of the falling in love
  • The conclusion is a happily ever after. In a teen romance, they go to the school dance holding hands.

  • This presentation is geared toward employees handling kids under 18 or employees taking care of senior adults.
  • Article from the New York Times. The sandwich generating pays a price: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/11/parenting/sandwich-generation-costs.html
  • Thirty-two percent of 800 interviewed people had to make a financial sacrifice to take care of a family member.
  • Some finances moved from utilities to meds etc.
  • 5 million Adults in the U.S are dual caregivers and more likely to struggle with money problems, emotional trouble, and exhaustion.
  • There is around-the-clock support. Sometimes she had to miss her own appointments.
  • The American Physiology Assis: 40% of those in the age range 35-54 have the highest levels of stress as – caregivers.
  • AP reported 83% of family relationships is the top source of stress as well as their own well-being.
  • When you lose a family member, it creates a void. Sometimes it’s hard to get used to not being needed in that way as you were.
  • Many people feel guilty when they have to ask for help from someone who can help. People finds it hard to take care of someone by themselves. You worry you can get the correct help for what your family member needs. When a family member dies under your watch, you feel guilty as well.
  • Taking care of a needy family member can delay your personal or financial dreams.
  • Sometimes we may feel angry or resentful of having to manage such care for the short or long term.
  • You are not alone in your feelings.

APA offers some strategies to help.

  1. Identify your stresses.
  2. Recognize how you deal with stress. Are you using unhealthy behaviors to cope with stress?
  3. Is this specific to certain events or situations. Try to put those events into perspective.
  4. Prioritize and delegate responsibilities.
  5. Find healthy ways to manage your stress. Maybe a short walk, exercising or talking to someone.
  6. Unhealthy behavior can build up over time and can be difficult to change.
  7. Focus on changing one behavior at a time. Don’t do everything at once, like start dieting, exercising, reading a book a week, and cutting screen time in the same week. Don’t look at the bigger picture. Start with the little things.
  8. We often lose contact with our friends. You need to make time for yourself. This means maintaining contact with your friends.
  9. Contact professional help. And accept help from friends and family.
  10. Consider for your friends and family who are currently caregivers. You can offer a visit or dinner etc.
