facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

This is a presentation offered at an online Summit presented by Qatarina Wanders. Any misinformation is the fault of the note-taker.

Q: why invest in high-quality editors?

  • You don’t have an eye for your own mistakes. Even editors need editors
  • The more you write the less editing you need.
  • A lot of software is getting better.
  • Autocrate software helps with repeated words.
  • Editors can catch what you missed.
  • AI-written books often don’t make sense and authors who created it don’t look at it. that can be risky.
  • Software is doing a lot of editing.
  • Amazon is trying to flag ai book.
  • Bot software will modify your text you typed in and make better descriptions and good grammar.
  • Ai for fiction will keep you writing in your own voice. It makes subplots.

Q: the difference between developmental context, copyediting, and proofreading.

  • Make sure your editor and you agree on editing terms.
  • Stage 1. Developed content copy and proofing. There is an edit for each.
  • Developing: Big picture. Make sure all is structured, the plot in the right place does the lot make sense. Is the hero journey working, plot holes
  • Content: flow little picture look at the content already there. Syntax, tenses, voice
  • Copy/line editing: grammar, syntax, flow
  • Proofreading: catch what is missed.
  • A book will be 85-95 error-free from traditional publishing
  • As you write, more the rounds may not be as intense. The software helps fix mistakes it gets easier.
  • Need two sets of human eyes besides your own.
  • Bots can fix plot holes.

Q:  three biggest editing mistakes.

  1. Double spacing between sentences. Single space between sentences.
  2. Dialog tags. Start a new line when a new character is speaking. Punctuation goes inside the quotes
  3. Using text speaks and gets all caps for emphasis. For the industry is italics for emphasis.

Q: Final advice?

  • There is a high number of books. Really focus on quality. It helps you rise to the top.
  • Get as many readers as possible.

Q: Why should authors collect emails?

  • A bio lead (nonfiction) is someone who has obtained your book.
  • We need to create our own email list with a lead magnet. Get something free.
  • It gives you direct communication if social media bans you.
  • It is a powerful marketing cook for other services beyond your book
  • Building a community.
  • Increasing sales by making your list aware of other services.
  • You can get feedback from your fans. They can ask questions or point to areas of confusion..
  • Help you launch your book and give the first review by them having the inside track.

Q: good examples of lead products.

  • It is only limited by our imagination.
  • Maybe a one-page cheat sheet
  • A chapter from your book
  • A short story
  • A free course
  • Quizzes and surveys do well for nonfiction.
  • A checklist or resource lists things to do for certain things that can benefit your recipient.
  • A two-page pdf that is a link to all your resources of all your resources on your website.

Q: should authors experiment with lead magnets

  • Think about what might be the most interesting to them and think of using that for a magnet.
  • Maybe bundle several magnets together.
  • A list of resources collected through the years.
  • The host did a tweet, for a free book with a 24-hour timer. Boosted by 70%

Q: What is an autoresponder and how it work?

  • Paid software bool lets you collect your readers and let you send emails to them.
  • Lt you set up a landing page to offer a lead magnet.
  • Only get more info/ fill out fields if relevant to what you offer.
  • Can get an email link that points you to a video hosted on another site.
  • It allows you to have emails queued up on certain dates. Email in sequence.
  • Send out weekly emails to your list.
  • Have a thank you page.
  • There are tutorials on YouTube.com. Go to fiva.com maybe find.com to hire someone to set it up
  • A first book leads to a second book.

Q: other ideas

  • Something is better than perfect.
  • Have multiple actions at the front of the book and at the end of the book.
  • If you have chapters on different chapters in the nonfiction book. Specialize a lead on that chapter topic like a checklist. Maybe be the same resource and have different sections for the book.

Relieving the Stress of Decision-Making

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedin

My company contracts with Daily Journey to give thought and suggestions on different themes. Any misinformation here is the fault of the note-taker.

  • Find clarity on our core values. If we value honesty, instead of stressing on what you’ll say, just tell the truth.
  • The more we build a habit the easier it gets.
  • Sometimes there may not be a right or wrong in a decision.
  • If we do our best in considering the welfare of as many people as possible and take into account all the info we had available at the time. Then we made the best decision we could at the time.
  • It’s impossible to know the future.
  • Sometimes when the results of our decision become more visible it sometimes feels like we should have done something else. It doesn’t chagne the intent of what we thought was best at the time we made the decision.
  • It is possible to make peace with the decision you’ve made and to move forward with clarity on future decisions that is based on your set of core values.
  • If we identify what we truly believe in, use the strength of our minds to think, speak and act under those beliefs.
  • And hold steady with the wellbeing of the whole which includes ourselves and others. we are sure to find out why.

Assignment:

  • Make a list of 7 to 10 things you value in life.
  • Some examples are honesty, love, family, non-harm, generosity etcetera.
  • Once you’ve made your list put it somewhere you will see frequently.
  • Use it as a little reminder.
  • This will allow you to revisit those values and change them if need be.
  • Lastly, consider what an idea means to be right or ideal.
  • Is it always dependent upon the result of the decision? or is there other ways to define good decisions?
  • Contemplate that possibility along with your personal values and see what you come up with.

  • We need to teach our children that God loves us, even when we make mistakes.
  • Don’t use the church is a weapon God recognizes sometimes it is hard to come to church but is gladly still,
  • When the child told their parents that they found church boring, she said she understood. But we still go because we love Christ.
  • When we ridicule our children that creates doubt.
  • Often kids don’t feel secure in admitting their problems to the fifth we need to let our children know that we still love them.
