My company gives webinars on different topics. Here are some of my notes on Career Advancement. I did not get everything that was said because I was listening to it between calls. Here is the info I caught. Any misinformation is the fault of the note-taker.
- Engage with others. Spend time collaborating with your peers.
- If you have an idea, speak up.
- Sign up for a mentorship program
- Sign up to be a mentor
- Ask what your strengths are.
- Ask others what you do well.
- What gives me vitality/ what drains me?
- Seek out ways to advocate for yourself in business and away from work.
- When you do different things, it can increase your confidence.
- Seek ways to increase your skills.
- Learn how to advocate for others.
- When you converse at work, always speak professionally.
- If you pitch for a promotion state what you contribute to the company.
- Learn from your mistakes to not repeat them.
- How to come across as not self-promotion and self-advocating? State the success of a project in the plural. Our teams did such and such.
- Self-care is essential.
