During a storytelling meeting, we made a list of what could go back on a gig and what could represent the best of a gig and then listed what we could control.
– Can’t find the venue.
– Forgot story
– Out of control audience
– Didn’t show up for an apppointment.
– Nobody comes with a sound system
– No $$$ or less $$
– Not sync with the audience, tell the wrong story
– Forced to tell
– Complain/ meet cheap, \rec probe. No intro
– No potty break
– Spill drink on self
– Rude audience
– Disengage
– Mom talks on the phone during the performance
– The audience won’t participate
– Flat tire
– Forget props
– The expectation of the person who hired you is not met.
Dream gig:
– $$$
– High profile
– Headliner
– Audience is connected
– Easy pay attitude
– Hirer thrilled
– Looking good
– Hired again
– Children loved you
– Setting mic
– No competing diversions to see you
– Not traffic issues
– Not lost
– Get there early
– No spills
– Hair great
– Clothes great
– Everything you need
– Soundcheck
– Mic stand
– Standing ovation
– Cried, laugher
– Advertising amazing
