I watched a video made by some Utah toastmasters’ members on how to effectively use Facebook to promote a club. This knowledge can be used in multiple areas.
- Facebook groups the official toastmasters international: 14K members
- Your target audience for a club Facebook page, the target group is our members. It’s also being used for prospects. Visitors can see what the club does and what members are like.
- 3 settings under Facebook
Public means it’s seen by all.
Closed; only seen by members. (TM international> closed group have to be invited.
Secret (maybe create a group for people that are organizing an upcoming event. Just send the link to particular members.

Tips and ‘Tricks for using Group Facebook pages.
- Under group page, you can do multiple activates
- Under the More / […] menu is a drop down
- []add file
- [] Create photo album / video
- [] create doc (blog article) i.e. what it’s like to be in a contest
- [] Create Event (create an event as an open house for the club or to create a video for training
- Create a poll (survey) you can only do this with a group page. If we have a potluck or training what day would be good?
- Facebook page will have a line to identify itself. i.e.: ‘public group’ under the header of the group page.
- You can drag a mouse over photos of people, to see who members are.
