Deep Listening for Compassionate Leadership

My company subscribes to notifications from Daily Journey. The misinformation below is the fault of the note-taker.

  • Deep listening is a very helpful and an important tool to bring into the workplace.
  • Deep listening is using all your facilities: your mind, your body, and your own emotional intuition in the conversation.
  • For example, you’re in a meeting you see one employee happy, but another employee is not as talkative as they usually are. You see a sad expression on their face. You might see their feelings through body behavior. take in all your observations, then your opportunity is to foster the work environment.
  • An example on this is choosing the collaborate with ideas. Allow to have a lot of input. make sure everyone has an equal amount of time to express themselves.
  • If someone is reluctant you can compassion seek for more input. This will include a time and inclusive environment.
  • This will provide time and place for expression.
  • You want to promote collaboration not competition. Make sure that everyone’s feelings matter.
  • The following practice can help your observations.
  • S: stop and pause.
  • T: take a breath
  • O: is observe
  • P: proceeding from
  • You want to practice the mental phrase: thank you I hear you. We will learn and grow together.
  • Practice:
  • Take some deep breaths.
  • Eyes can be open or closed.
  • We’re going to move into our stop practice. stop and pause and permit the stillness for a moment.
  • After the pause take along deep breath of the body.
  • O is where you observe, you can imagine the events around you and note the signals of your corkers.
  • P after perceiving all this info you can proceed by behavior. imagine yourself telling them the phase:
  • Thank you.
  • I’m grateful for you.
  • I see you.
  • I hear you.
  • I’m grateful to learn and grow together.
