My company is featuring more training videos and this one was on meeting etiquette. Any misinformation is the fault of the note taker.
- Limit the number of video calls.
- A phone call or email may be effective.
- On each meeting, make sure there is a purpose and an agenda.
- Send out the agenda should be in advance.
- State the purpose of the meeting as you start it.
- Follow the agenda throughout the meeting.
- Prioritize participants under the moto less is more.
- Meet in odd numbers to make decision.
- The less people involved in making decisions or attending a meeting the more effective it is.
- Consider shorter meetings 15-20 min
- Be mindful of time zones.
Four golden rules:
- Be on time you cascade downline punctuality or lack thereof.
- Be present. Resist the temptation to multi task such as with phones.
- Be inclusive. Look for body language. See who has checked out of the meeting. See who might want to comment.
- Summarize at the end of your meeting. Summarize take ways, actions items, and follow up.
- Have some element of fun during your meetings.
