Went to a presentation at life universe and everything that was hosted by the programmer and author, Jared Barneck. He talked about how the software. Sigil can be used to make a good quality e-book. Here are my notes from his presentation.

–          Sigil is an open source software.

–          Works on all platforms. There are two modes. A WYSIWYG, be HTML

–          Use smaller words for titles, so that a big word will not break a naturally in appearance.

–          Author: J Abram Berneck go to website to get nine chapters of this book

–          Don’t put spaces between paragraphs.

–          Indent 2 to 5, but may be better to do 3 to 4 spaces for paragraphs,

–          Sigil template is available for e-book

–          Don’t convert your manuscript to sigil until you’re done rearranging paragraphs and editing

–          To prepare your document, save word as HTML or copy the text and paste the text.

–          You can do a save as and browse and tell you find the setting of type

–          Every chapter or section of a book such as prologue introduction credits. Table of contents should each have their own file.

–          Table of contents, do not use the words. Table of contents in Sigil

–          In sigil it will provide his own form the table contents. Do not include page numbers or… For you. Table of contents or can mess up for Manning

–          Do not write a line in your text.

–          Split marker: just generates a new file.

–          Type the first chapter as 01 so will not mess up the numbering of your chapters.

–          If your book is to bed such as have many photos, Amazon will charge you download fees for downloading big books. It may be free up to 10 make

–          Do not put any separate images into your document. There are two big use text symbols instead and copy and paste.

–          Chapter headers equal 81 CSS: means cascading style sheets. They influence the display of images on your book.
